The Prince's Trust
The Prince’s Trust Angus Team are based in the C.A.F.E. Project. Young people are given the chance to develop the personal and teamwork skills needed to succeed in the modern word. The programme which is being run in association with Dundee College lasts for 12 weeks and gives young people age 16-25 the opportunity to become involved in activities which will help their community, the environment and themselves. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, it helps young people realise their potential and transform their lives. The Trust focuses its efforts on young people who struggle at school, are in or leaving care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. The work of the Prince’s Trust aims to combat: · social exclusion and unemployment; · youth crime and anti-social behaviour; · educational underachievement and low basic skills, and · disengagement and truancy. The work of the Prince’s Trust aims to promote: · citizenship and respect · financial independence and practical skills · self esteem and motivation · community regeneration Princes Trust Angus Team Leader Chris Burke said; “The initiative is aimed at preparing those taking part for the vital next step into employment or further education. It helps young people develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work or even start their own business, as well as bringing together people from different backgrounds and circumstances and with different abilities. This encourages team member’s individual personal development in areas such as communication, leadership, motivation, confidence and tolerance.”
